Federal Worker

I am a federal worker.

I swore an oath to protect the United States of America.

I believe in my country.

I give my service for my country.

I go above and beyond, working hours I don’t get paid for, purchasing equipment from my own wallet and don’t ask for repayment.

The mission is important.

I love my country.

I believe in what I do and the people I work with.

We do things most Americans don’t understand and never will.

We don’t seek acknowledgment or praise.

We are there to support our country and are proud to do it.

Now, we are being attacked by the new administration.

Now, the President of the United States hates us.

What does this mean?

Who are we?

What did our decades of service mean?

What is our role?

We are told we don’t have one.

We are picked off and removed by the thousands.

We are told, “Best of luck on your next adventure,” by colleagues.

What does it mean?

Where will we go?

The meaning we had in our lives has been destroyed along with the United States.
